About Us – Hotel Entstrasser
In 1918, carpenter Martin Entstrasser (my grandfather) purchased Gut Badhaus and moved from St. Johann in Tirol to Kitzbühel. His original idea was to start a timber transportation business. Several iron-rich springs were located on the property, hence the name “Eisenbad” (“Eisen” is the German name for “iron”). As early as the 19th century, a bathing facility with iron-rich healing waters had already been operated here for the benefit of summer visitors. That particular building (right next door, now owned by my brother Martin) stands to this day, though now housing a bank as well as several apartments.
Over time, the main business did indeed shift to timber transportation and providing other services by means of horse-drawn carriage. At just 18 years of age, my father Martin Entstrasser obtained his bus driver’s license. He then operated the first postal bus route from Kitzbühel via Badhaus to Jochberg Wald. Later, the business gradually moved away from freight transport and focused instead on taxi services and excursion trips by bus.
With tourism in Kitzbühel on the rise, the family decided in the 1950s to begin renting out guest rooms at the Badhaus.
The taxi and excursion businesses flourished as more and more visitors were discovering beautiful Kitzbühel. Demand for guest rooms continued to grow, and so my father, together with my mother Annegret, decided to build a small bed-and-breakfast next door (today’s Hotel Garni Entstrasser). Construction began in 1972. Even at that time, all rooms already featured a shower and WC, cable TV, and a balcony. From the very outset, the family was already making plans for an indoor swimming pool, fed by the deep “Eisenbad” spring on the property.
At the turn of the millennium, my parents handed over the bus and taxi company as well as the Badhaus to my brother Martin, while the guesthouse was placed in my care. Today I run the hotel with my mother Annegret and my sister Bettina. Together, we do everything we can to ensure that you enjoy a wonderful stay at our small family-run hotel in Kitzbühel.
With warmest regards, Klaus Entstrasser
